This antique Victorian Civil War era chintz calico hoop skirt morning wrapper gown dress dates from the 1860s. It is made of autumn fall shades of brown, red, blue and green glazed calico cotton chintz fabrics with a floral vine leaf paisley print and striped border trim design. This wonderful wrapper morning gown dress has a long floor length full hoop skirt (hoop not included underneath), with a round fold over collar, long full sleeves, tiny glass button closures all the way down the front, side skirt pocket, an attached belted tie sash and is fully lined in a contrasting brown reptile scale calico print cotton fabric inside. The dress measures 58 inches long, with a 38 inch bust, 26 inch waist and 25 inch long sleeves. It is in fair as-is condition, missing the original buttons, a frayed hole on the shoulder, front belt, fraying and mended repairs on the front opening and some fade discoloration along the bottom skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana textile art! |
