This antique Victorian era blonde Chantilly lace cream silk appliqué trim bell sleeve coat jacket dates from 1900. It is made of a sheer fine blonde net French Chantilly bobbin lace fabric, with a floral leaf pattern outlined in off white cream colored threads with detailed shading effects and cream color silk appliqué ribbon work outlined in silk soutahce braided trim edging. There are cream silk braided rope tassel trim accents on the sleeve cuffs, back collar, lappet tie ends and along the bottom. This lovely lace coat jacket has a loose fitting robe style, with a large shawl collar, long full pagoda bell shape flared sleeve cuffs, long lappet ties hanging down the front with a hook closure at the chest and is sheer, unlined. The coat measures 32 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 46 inch waist, and 28 inch long sleeves with 28 inch circumference sleeve cuffs. It is in good condition, never worn, with the original paper tag still attached on the bottom back hem "Empire Patent 36" and does have some slight small frayed splits along the silk ribbon appliqué trim. This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of wearable antique textile art! |
