This vintage brown silk lace handkerchief skirt rosette ribbon trim flapper dress dates from 1920. It is made of a dark brown silk satin fabric, with sheer brown silk lace done in an Art Deco abstract swirl pattern on the sleeves and skirt overlay. There are brown, cream silk ribbon bow trimmings on the front waist and a rosette flower trim with gold metallic accents on the shoulder. This fabulous flapper dress has short kimono style cutaway sleeves, a black net inside camisole lining the top only, an attached belted sash wide waistband, layered lace over skirt with an asymmetrical uneven handkerchief hemline and snap closures on the back. The dress measures 47 inches long, with a 32 inch bust and 28 inch waist. It is in good as-is condition, with a small stain on the skirt bottom, a small frayed split along the underarm seam and a few small holes, breaks in the lace (see close-ups of sleeves). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable textile art! |
