This Victorian era antique purple and black silk damask large embroidered shawl collar cloak cape dates from the 1900. It is made of a purple and black silk wool blend damask weave fabric with a woven floral, tiny fleck Swiss dot design pattern. This wonderful womens winter cloak cape is a long floor length, with a large hand stitched embroidered purple and black tiny tucks gathering heavy shawl collar backed in a blue chambray denim fabric, hook closure on the front, with decorative gold brass chain link hook clasps, sequin beaded, pleated ruffle trim edging along the front opening, bottom hem and is fully lined in a soft flannel cotton striped ticking fabric lining inside. It has superb workmanship and detail, creating a very dramatic look and is quite heavy perfect for winter warmth. The cape measures 46 inches long and 18 inches across the top back shoulders. It is in good as-is condition, with two small frayed splits in the silk fabric under the back collar and near the bottom back skirt (see close-up).
