This antique Victorian era black burnout voided velvet cutaway polonaise dress bustle bodice dates from the 1880s. It is made of a black silk burnout voided velvet devore fabric with a floral leaf pattern. This gorgeous gothic polonaise style overdress bodice has a long floor length cutaway coat, side swagged bustle back drape overskirt with soutache braided rope and chenille tassel trim creating a bow back accent, a high collar band neckline, long tapered sleeves, flared lace ruffle trim cuffs, a fitted waist coming to a point at the bottom front, black velvet buttons down the front for closure and is fully lined with stays boning sewn inside. The polonaise measures 22 inches long in the front, 49 inches long in the back, with a 34 inch bust, 24 inch waist, 12 1/2 inch back shoulder seam and 19 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, with only some slight wear to the velvet nap edging around the collar. This is truly an amazing piece of antique Victoriana wearable textile art!
