This antique Victorian era brown wool soutache button trim winter walking suit coat jacket dates from 1900. It is made of a golden brown color worsted twill wool fabric, with brown soutache braided passementerie trim accents outlining Persian black curly lamb scrolling designs on the front top. This wonderful winter walking suit coat jacket has a tailored, fitted long mid length, pouter pigeon style with stitched fabric appliqué strip trim accents, decorative steel cut floral button trimmings on the back waist and front, gathered shoulders with long full sleeves, gauntlet cuffs, hook closures on the front and is lined in the top only with a brown polished cotton fabric inside. The coat measures 33 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 26 inch waist, 23 inch long sleeves and is 15 inches between the back shoulder seams. It is in good as-is condition, with several tiny moth holes scattered throughout (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable textile art which would be great for display, design or restoration! |
