This antique Art Nouveau Edwardian era rainbow plush velvet rosette wide brim hat dates from 1918. It is made of a colorful rainbow of a varying tie-dye style plush velvet fabric. There are ecru color silk grosgrain ribbon work rosette flowers trimming the side. This beautiful belle epoque early cloche style hat has a wired wide brim, which is lined underneath with a light brown ecru color silk fabric. The brim is asymmetrical and uneven with a wider front and narrow back. It has been re-lined inside the crown in white silk, with remnants of the original label from "Chapeaux Distingués Dutil St. Johnsbury Vermont". The hat measures 22 inches inside crown circumference, with a 4 inch wide brim and is in excellent wearable condition.
