This vintage B.J. Simmons & Co 1941 Ltd. natural straw floral ribbon Eugenie hat dates from 1941. It is made of a tightly woven natural straw, with a pale pastel blue and lilac purple silk ribbon bow trim, pink velvet flower trim and white ostrich feather plume accent. This charming Eugenie 19th century inspired hat has a small petite style, with an upturned brim, cascading ribbon drape back and would have been worn tilted to the right, secured with a hatpin. It was named after the Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. There is a "B.J. Simmons & Co (1941) Ltd. 25 Shelton Street" label sewn inside. The hat measures 20 inches inside circumference. It is in excellent wearable condition. $100 |
