This antique Art Nouveau burgundy velvet vintage hat and gold metallic rhinestone ribbon hatband dates from 1918. It is made of a dark red burgundy wine color velvet fabric. There is a gold metallic mesh net soutache embroidered ribbon work hatband trim, with garnet red rhinestones and a black silk ribbon tie closure on the back. This beautiful belle epoque early cloche style hat has a slouched soft fabric crown and pleated gathered small brim with a rolled padded edging. It is fully lined in black silk, with a "Canfield New London, Conn." label sewn inside. The hat measures 23 inches inside crown circumference, with a 2 inch wide brim. It is in good wearable condition, with only some minor wear to the velvet fabric nap around the brim and on the back crown.
