This antique Victorian era Marie Louise Paris label black bird feather Neapolitan flat wide brim hat dates from 1900. It is made of a black silk velvet fabric draped and gathered, with black silk ribbon trim. There are black feathers, two bird heads with glass eyes and a large black sequin beaded bow trim on the top. This Neapolitan style portrait plate hat has a wide flat brim and low crown, with a small bandeau crown underneath lined in black silk and a "Marie Louise Paris" millinery label inside. This exquisite quality made hat would have sat atop a full Gibson Girl style updo hairdo with long hatpin's. The hat measures 46 inches in circumference and is in good wearable condition, with most of the velvet nap worn off the fabric and some chips on the bird beaks (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Victoriana art! $150 |
