This Edwardian era vintage Madame Gatecliff Modiste black velvet lace feather trim wide brim hat dates from 1918. It is made of a black velvet fabric, with black silk battenburg tape lace applique trim sewn around the crown and black ostrich feather plumes sewn around the brim. There are two rhinestone encrusted hat pins, one long and one short. This beautiful black hat has a wide brim and slouched crown. There is a black silk lining inside the crown, with a "Newman's Emporia, Kansas Mme Gatecliff Modiste" label. The hat measures 23 inches inside crown circumference and 44 inches outside the brim. It is in good condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of quality made wearable textile millinery art!
