This vintage Burke beaded black woven horse hair straw sheer wide brim cloche hat dates from the 1920s. The hat is made of a wire base, covered with a sheer woven black horse hair net straw and black silk trim edging. There is black jet beaded trim done in an Art Deco geometric design on the front hatband. This fabulous flapper cloche style hat has a wide brim which has an uneven asymmetrical oval shape, wider along the sides and is sheer, completely unlined. There is black silk sweatband inside with a "Burke Importer & Designer 20 Palmer St. Lowell , Mass." label. The hat measures 22 inches inside crown circumference and 50 inches outer brim. It is in good condition, with only a few small breaks in the net. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Art Deco millinery art!
