This Edwardian era Belle Epoque black plush velvet pink silk rosette embroidered wide brim hat dates from 1910. It is made of a black plush velvet felted fur nap, with pink silk ribbon work rosette flowers and green chenille embroidered leaf sprigs going around the crown. This beautiful Belle Epoque hat has a wide brim, round crown, a black silk pleated ruched strap "wind string" attached underneath to keep from flying off and is lined in black silk inside the crown. There is a "Thomas Kepalniko Co. Omaha, Neb." label sewn inside. The hat measures 23 inches inside crown circumference and is 42 inches outside the brim. It is in good condition, with some fraying of the pink silk rosette flower trim and the brim lining underneath has been removed. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable millinery art!
