It is made of a woven white natural straw, with a cornflower blue color silk moire ribbon and cream velvet flower trim.

It is made of a woven white natural straw, with a cornflower blue color silk moire ribbon and cream velvet flower trim. This gorgeous Gainsborough style summer plate hat has a wide upturned brim with blue silk ribbon lining trim underneath and a low round crown on top. There is a small inside crown lined in a white silk fabric with a black velvet shelf brim underneath on the back. This quality made hat would have sat atop a full Gibson Girl style updo hairdo and secured with a large hat pin. The hat measures 21 inches outside circumference. It is in good condition, with some frayed splits on the blue silk ribbon trim. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable millinery art!
