This antique Victorian womens woven natural straw chintz curtain sunbonnet sunhat dates from the 1880s. It is made of a woven natural straw basket weave, with a colorful floral print chintz calico cotton fabric flounce on back. This women's summer sunhat sunbonnet would have been worn while working in the fields, with a wide large broad brim to shade the face from the sun and long curtain cape ruffle back drape flounce for protection. It is unlined and has no front tie closures. The bonnet measures 7 inches long, with an additional 9 inch long fabric flounce back and is 12 inches deep. It is in good condition, with only a tiny hole on the fabric and some slight small frayed breaks on the straw fold on top. This is truly a beautiful bonnet and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana millinery wearable art!
