This antique Edwardian era pleated brown silk horseless carriage motoring bonnet cap womens hat dates from 1910. It is made of a brown silk fabric with a wired frame front brim covered with pleated ruched gathering and a hair snood style back to protect and cover the hair. This womens traveling bonnet hood would have been worn for travel in a horseless carriage motor car and has brown sheer silk chiffon scarf ties for securing under the chin. The bonnet has a 13 inch wide front brim. It is in good as-is condition, with some small stains on the back snood and the neck scarf ties have several frayed splits (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of early motoring wearable millinery art! |
