Victorian Red Silk Brocade Pointed Toe High Top Boots. |
This pair of antique Victorian era red silk brocade pointed toe high top boots date from the 1880s. They are made of a brownish black leather bottom shoe, trim edging and decorative stitching on the front toes. There is a brownish black and red silk circular patterned brocaded fabric upper boot insert. The boots have exaggerated pointed toes squared a bit at the tips sometimes referred to as "the toothpick", original lacing down the front for closure and stacked wooden low French Louis XV heels. The boots measure 7 1/2 inches tall, 10 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide, with a 1 inch high heel. They have been gently worn, with only some minor wear to the leather and are in good wearable condition. These are truly a rare and unique example.
