Chinese Gold Silk Embroidered Butterfly Slipper Shoes. |
This pair of antique Chinese gold silk embroidered butterfly slipper shoes date from the 1920s. They are all hand stitched, made of a golden yellow orange silk fabric, with colorful floral silk raised padded satin stitch embroidery work and black silk trim edging along the top. There are embroidered butterflies and lotus flowers. These slipper style slip-on shoes have hard leather bottom soles, gold silk covered heels and are fully lined in linen, with a "Yu Yee Embroidered Shoes Made in Hong Kong China"size 7 1/2 ink stamped label inside. The shoes measure 10 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide, with 1 1/2 inch high heels. They have been gently worn and are in excellent wearable condition.
