|
This pair of antique Victorian era Hellstern Paris label velvet steel cut buckle straight sole shoes date from the 1850s. They are hand stitched and made of a dark midnight blue velvet fabric, with black velvet ribbon bow trim and steel cut beaded buckles on the front vamp. These elegant court style ladies slipper shoes have squared toes, straight leather bottom soles, with no left or right distinction and a low velvet covered French Louis XV high heel. They are lined in linen and kid leather, with the original "Hellstern Fils Chaussures pour Dames Paris 1 Rue du 29 Juillet" paper label and written inside in French left and right. The shoes measure 9 inches long, 2 inches wide, with a 2 inch high heel. They have been gently worn and have some minor wear to the velvet nap along the front toes and some slight lint dust particles. These delicate slippers were probably reserved for indoor wear, evening dress special occasions, perhaps court. They are truly a rare and early find. |
