This pair of Victorian era antique kid leather sequin beaded embroidered flats straight sole shoes date from the 1850s. They are hand stitched and made of a white kid leather which were dyed a grayish brown taupe color and is rubbing off in areas. It is lined in a flax linen, with remnants of a tie string inside on the back heels. There are gold gilt spiral metal embroidery spangles and sequins, with pastel chain stitch embroidery work done in a heart shape design on the front toes. These early ladies slipper shoes have a rounded slightly pointed toe and straight leather flat bottom soles with no left or right distinction. The shoes measure 10 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. They have some wear to the leather and the silk fabric inside the heart shape beaded design. These delicate slippers were probably reserved for indoor wear, evening dress or special occasions and are truly a rare find!
