This pair of vintage ladies Serbian opanak curled horn toe leather peasant folk shoes date from the mid 1900s. They are hand stitched, made of hand tooled tanned leather, with decorative weaving stitching on the front vamps. These traditional peasant folk costume Serbian opanak ladies moccasin style sandal shoes have upturned horn shape leather toes and woven ankle straps with adjustable buckle closures. The shoes measure 9 inches long and 3 inches wide. They are in good condition and have been gently worn. The ankle strap has come loose from the shoe on one side (see close-up). These shoes are considered a national symbol of Serbia and the traditional peasant footwear for people in the Balkan region.
