This pair of antique Victorian Civil War era men's crewel embroidery needlepoint slipper shoes date from the 1860s. They are made of a black needlepoint wool background, with crewel embroidery work done in muted natural hue colors with a floral vine leaf design. These charming cozy gentlemen's slip-on slipper style house shoes have brown stitching trim edging around the tops, squared toes, with hard leather soles, low stacked heels and are lined in kid leather. The shoes measure 12 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide, with a 1/2 high heel. They have some wear, with fraying around the top trim edging and soiling inside. These would make for a wonderful display piece and are a wonderful piece of wearable art! |
