This pair of antique Victorian era Turkish plum velvet gold gild embroidered pearl beaded shoes date from the 1860s. They are made of a plum purple color velvet fabric, with hand embroidered gold gild thread purlwire padded metalwork and pearl beading done in decorative designs along the front toes. There is gold metallic lamé rick-rack trim edging and purple plum silk pompoms. These stunning slip-on slipper style ladies shoes were made in Istanbul Turkey and exported to Europe and the United States. They are fully lined, with leather bottom soles and velvet covered low Louis XV heels. The shoes measure 9 1/2 inches long, 2 1/4 inches wide, with 1 inch high heels. They are in good wearable condition and look to have been barely worn. These are truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of wearable antique Ottoman Turkish textile art!
