Antique Chinese Red Silk Hand Painted Lotus Bound Foot Slipper Shoe

This single antique Chinese red silk hand painted lotus bound foot slipper shoe date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched and made of a red silk fabric, with a hand painted lotus flower on the sides and colorful silk damask ribbon trim edging. This women's single small slipper shoe has a pointed toe, an arched cloth high heel and is fully lined. The shoe measures 5 inches long, 1 inch wide and 2 1/2 inches high. For over a thousand years Chinese women's beauty was judged by the size of their feet. The ideal foot was three inches long and shaped like a lotus bud flower.
