This pair of antique Greek opanke tsarouhi child's red pompom shoes & folk doll date from the 1920s. The shoes are hand stitched, made of red leather, black leather trim, with white cord embroidery work and black fur pompoms on the front upturned curled toes. These traditional opanke style child's tsarouhi moccasin shoes are from Greece and have a Balkan countries, Turkish influence. The shoes measure 8 inches long and 3 inches wide. Included is a traditional folk costume dressed rag doll, hand made of cloth, with gold sequins, beading, decorative coins, a hand painted face and paper hat adorned with bead work. The doll measures 9 inches long. They are in good condition and have been gently worn and played with. These are truly a rare and beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Greek textile and shoe art!
