This pair of antique Victorian era wedding white kid leather bow trim ribbon ties straight sole shoes date from the 1850s. They are made of a soft white kid leather, with decorative stitched leather bow trim on the front instep vamps. These beautiful bridal wedding shoes have a slip on slipper style, with squared toes, silk ribbon lacing ties, straight leather bottom soles with no left or right distinction and a low leather covered French Louis XV heel. The shoes measure 9 1/2 inches long, 2 inches wide and a 1 inch high heel. They are in good condition, have been gently worn, with only some minor wear, scuff marks, loose stitching on the bow trim and a frayed ribbon tie strap. There is a numbered tag sewn inside and are a museum deaccession. These delicate wedding slippers were probably reserved for indoor wear, evening dress or special occasions. They are truly a rare and wonderful piece of early bridal wedding shoe art! |
