This pair of antique Chinese embroidered child's wedge pedestal boat shape shoes date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are made of a red silk fabric, with colorful forbidden stitch Peking knot, raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of flowers, velvet front toes with gold metallic thread couching work and a red thread woven trim band around the top edging. These unusual child's Manchu pedestal boat shape platform style slip-on slipper shoes have a multi layered wooden wedge sole painted white with a rope stitched bottom and are fully lined in linen fabric inside. The shoes measure 6 1/2 inches long, 2 inches wide, with a 3/4 inch high wedge heel. They are in fair as-is condition, with frayed missing pieces of red silk fabric, loose missing embroidery work stitching and fraying along the top edging trim (see close-ups).
