Victorian Leavers Mill Bobbin Lace White Wedding Fan. |
This antique Victorian era Leavers mill bobbin lace white wedding fan dates from the 1880s. It is made of a sheer fine off white machine made Leavers mill copy of and inspired by Belgian Brussels bobbin lace with a scrolling floral leaf pattern created with cloth stitch, half stitch and outlined in cordonnet. There are carved pierced bone sticks and guards, with a loop rivet attached on the bottom holding the fan together. This fabulous fan might have been used by a lady for a ball dance or wedding. The fan measures 12 inches long and 32 inches wide when opened. It is in excellent clean useable condition, with no breaks or repairs and is a museum deaccession. This is a wonderful piece of antique lace art.
