This antique Victorian Civil War era beaded needlepoint magnolia pouch purse dates from the 1860s. It is made of a red wool needlepoint background, with crystal, white, black, gold, steel cut beading done in a hand beaded magnolia flower leaf pattern design on both sides of the purse. This pretty pouch purse would have had a drawstring closure and is fully lined in a fuchsia pink silk velvet lining inside. The purse measures 8 inches long and is 6 1/2 inches wide. It is in as-is condition, with a few loose missing beads along the sides, edging and it has been restitched in red thread along the side edging. It is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique beaded textile art.
