This lot of 10 antique Ottoman period Turkish embroidery linen square sampler doilies date from the late 1800s. They are made of a homespun hand loomed linen fabric with hand embroidery work and drawn cut work. There are silver and gold metallic threads done in couching needlework designs and colorful silk pastel embroidered geometric and floral pattern designs. The embroidery technique of counted stitches is perfect and neat and is reversible. Each square has a unique embroidered decorative design, with hand knotted tassel fringe border edging. This lot of square doilies are a sort of sampler of needlework techniques done in a variety of designs. They each measure 7 by 7 inches, with 1 1/2 inch fringe. It has wonderful workmanship and is excellent condition, with only a few faint age spots stains on a few of them. This is truly a beautiful piece of Ottoman Turkish textile art.
