Victorian Italian Lithograph Foil Inlay Pierced Sticks Fan. |
This antique Victorian era Italian lithograph foil inlay pierced sticks fan dates from the 1850s. It is made of pleated paper with gold and silver foil trim rococo design accents and hand colored painted lithographs. The front medallion picture has an early 1800s garden scene of ladies; some holding fans and a Venice Italy gondola canal scene. The back picture cut out has a shepherd, sheep and court lady. There are rococo style design carved and pierced bone sticks and guards, with silver inlay accents and a rivet attached onto the bottom holding the fan together. The fan measures 10 1/2 inches long and 24 inches wide when opened. This fabulous fan is in good useable condition, with a few tiny breaks in the paper along the top, a small repair to the paper center medallions and a crack on the center stick (see close-ups).
