This antique Chinese bound foot lotus slipper shoes date from the early 1900s. They are hand stitched and made of a black silk damask fabric, with pastel silk raised padded satin stitch embroidery work of floral designs. This pair of delicate dainty slipper shoes are lined in linen, with back loops, wood slat hand stitched soles and a slight small low heel. The shoes measures 6 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. For over a thousand years Chinese women's beauty was judged by the size of their feet. The ideal foot was three inches long and shaped like a lotus bud flower. This pair of slippers have been gently worn and are in excellent condition. They are a wonderful one of a kind piece of Chinese textile art which would make for a wonderful display piece. $150 |
