Chinese Silk Embroidered Sleeve Band Pouch Purse. |
This antique Chinese silk embroidered sleeve band pouch purse dates from the 1920s. The purse is hand stitched, made of black silk, with colorful woven silk trim accents and a white silk single sleeve band cuff encircling it. The band cuff has colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery, gold couching work and a peking knot forbidden blind seed stitch peony flower. This pretty pouch purse has been beautifully sewn together, with a wooden oval hoop frame sewn inside the top and bottom lining giving it shape and a gold metallic rope strap with red beads and a brass etched plate bar at the top for carrying. It is fully lined inside in a taupe color silk fabric. The purse measures 16 inches long and 11 inches wide. It is in good useable condition, with only some loose thread embroidery work on the sleeve band trim (see close-up). This is a great one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile art.
