This antique Victorian era wooden inlay sewing box needlework tool set dates from the 1860s. It is made of rosewood, with a lighter wood inlay stripe, floral details and a carved scalloped edging on the top lid. It has the original brown velvet and white paper interior compartments. There is a mirrored inside lid with decorative rope trim edging the frame. This lovely ladies dainty petite sewing box contains the original sewing implement tools. There is an elevated pin cushion, thimble holder containing a silver gold plated engraved size 6 thimble, silver plated scissors, a turned bone needle case and two thread winders. It has a front locking mechanism, but the key is missing. The box measures 5 by 4 by 2 1/2 inches. It has been used and has some wear. The mirror could be re-silvered, the thimble has scratches and the needle case has a small crack. This is truly a wonderful women's antique sewing embroidery needlework box.
