This antique Victorian era silver serpent chatelaine leather sporran purse dates from the 1880s. It is made of a decorative raised relief repousse silver plated frame, with a serpent and leaf motif, chain link strap and a loop at the top for securing at the waist on a chatelaine or for carrying on the finger. The purse is made of a textured brown leather and fully lined inside. This stunning small Scottish sporran style pouch purse has a push button clasp closure on top. The purse measures 6 by 6 inches and is in excellent condition, with only minor wear to the leather. This is a museum deaccession piece.
