Antique Battenburg Tape Lace Net Bedspread & Pillow Sham. |
This antique battenburg tape lace net bedspread and pillow sham set dates from 1915. It is made of an off white light ecru cream color sheer cotton net, with battenburg tape lace connecting brides and bars done in a decorative scrolling pattern design. This lovely lace bedspread bed cover is a work of art and would have been used in a lady's private boudoir bedroom. The bedspread measures 75 inches long, 56 inches wide, with an additional 19 inch bottom skirt ruffle and side dust ruffles. Included is a matching long pillow sham cover which measures 56 inches long, 34 inches wide, with an additional 20 inch ruffle on each end. The set is in good condition, but has not been cleaned and has a few faint age, water spot stains from storage and two small mends in the net near the side (see close-up). It is a wonderful piece of antique lace textile art.
