This Victorian era antique Kashmir hand woven pieced paisley shawl dates from the early 1800s. It is all hand stitched and embroidered with colorful natural dyed wool done in strong vivid vibrant colors. This stunning shawl has exquisite workmanship and detail which is all hand embroidered and pieced together by hand. There is a small black wool star center, with a fringed decorative beautiful border edging surrounding the shawl. These paisley shawls were made in Kashmir, Persia and India. They were very popular during the mid to late 1800s with at least one being included in every better class trousseau. This outstanding shawl measures 70 by 70 inches. It is in good useable condition, with only a few small frayed holes, including in the center (see close-up). It lays flat without any puckering.
