These antique Chinese figural dragon boat silk embroidered square panel pair date from the late Qing Dynasty during the 19th century. They are hand stitched, made of a white silk background, with colorful pastel tiny needlework done in raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There are matching intricately embroidered figural scenes, with a dragon boat race in the center, surrounded by the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune, along with bats and birds. This pretty pair of embroidered silk square panels have a black and white silk braid trim border frame edging and are backed in a fine tissue lining. They would be great framed as a small tapestry wall hanging. Each panel measures 7 1/2 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide. They are in excellent condition and are truly a wonderful rare piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
