This antique Ottoman period Turkish crewel chain stitch embroidered linen shawl scarf sash towel dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a homespun hand woven flax linen fabric with hand embroidery chain stitch crewel work. There is white and yellow silk thread embroidery work with outlining black & white twisted thread detailing. Along the two bottom ends is a hand knotted fringed trim. There are matching domestic abstract floral leaf embroidered decorative designs on both sides of the sash ends fabric towel and designs along the border edging and center. This large towel sash style shawl scarf measures 82 inches long and 19 inches wide. It has wonderful workmanship and is in excellent condition, with only a few small faint age spot stains. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of Ottoman Turkish textile art!
