This antique Chinese dragon gold couching embroidery stumpwork silk tapestry dates from the 1920s. It is all hand stitched, made of a blue silk fabric, with gold metallic thread couching embroidery work, which tiny red stitches hold the couching work together giving it a contrasting copper color appearance. There are two dragons intertwined into a circle with a pearl in the center and waves of water with clouds surrounding them. The dragons symbolize eternity, Yin & the Yang. They have been expertly embroidered in a raised stumpwork style. It is fully lined and backed in a pink silk fabric which has some fraying and stains. There is blue rope trim edging and fringe tassels on each corner. The squared tapestry textile measures 48 by 48 inches. It is in excellent condition and is a wonderful piece of Chinese textile art!
