This vintage Madeira embroidered linen lace cutwork runner and placemat set dates from the 1950s. It is hand stitched, made of a natural unbleached flax linen, with raised padded satin stitch Madeira embroidery work and decorative drawn cutwork designs of flowers. This pretty Portuguese placemat runner table linen set includes a 43 inch long, 17 inch wide table runner and eight placemats each measuring 17 by 10 1/2 inches. These lovely table coverings have wonderful quality workmanship and are in excellent condition, with only a small faint stain on one placemat (see close-up). This is a wonderful piece of antique textile lace art!
