|
This antique Chinese crane, bird, butterfly and deer silk embroidered robe trim lot dates from the late Qing Dynasty during the early 1900s. It is hand stitched, made of a white silk fabric, with colorful raised padded satin stitch embroidery work, done in an intricately embroidered needlework design of pagoda, bridges, flowers, butterflies, bats, birds, cranes and spotted deer. The crane is a symbol of longevity, the deer riches, the bat happiness, the butterfly long life and beauty. This stunning 8 piece lot of embroidered trim would have been used on a Manchu robe for added decoration and symbolism. The trims range in size from 10 to 37 inches long. They are in good useable condition, with only some faint staining discoloration. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
