This pair of antique Victorian era velvet fern embroidered lingerie stocking, glove, hankie holders date from 1900. They are made of a black velvet fabric, with hand embroidered fern frond leaf and raised white pompoms. The fern was a symbol of the secret bond of love and discretion. These lovely lingerie envelope holders have a golden yellow silk rope and ribbon bow trim, with a quilted lining inside. They would have held handkerchiefs, stockings and gloves. The holders each measure 15 1/2 by 7 inches and 8 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches. They are in good useable condition, with only slight wear and age spots on the ribbon trim. These are truly a wonderful piece of Victoriana textile art! $100 |
