ese antique Victorian era gentlemen's Crown Make violet embroidered mourning braces suspenders date from 1890. They are made of black silk, with purple violet flowers done in raised padded satin stitch embroidery work. The suspenders are backed in a cream color silk satin fabric, with dark brown leather button loop attachments on front, a "Crown Make" gold embossed strap on back and fancy filigree gold metal hardware adjustable brackets on the front. The suspenders measure 30 inches long and are 2 inches wide. These beautiful braces suspenders would have been worn during the mourning period or for a funeral and are in good condition, with only some fraying of the back silk lining and the back button loop is missing. This is truly a wonderful piece of men's Victoriana mourning textile art!
