This antique Chinese dragon pheasant red gold silk brocade tassel tapestry tablecloth dates from the early 1900s. It is made of a red & gold silk brocade fabric, with a woven design of dragons and pheasants which represent the bird and animal kingdom, thus the entire natural world. There are precious object symbols of wealth and good fortune used as decorative motifs. This tapestry table cover has red silk hand knotted fringe tassels with gold thread wrapped around the tops, edging the entire square textile. It is fully lined and backed in a red silk damask fabric, with a bat, endless knot and ji character for luck pattern. The tapestry textile measures 28 by inches and has 10 inch long tassel trim edging. It is in good condition, with only a couple of missing tassels & gold trim. This is a wonderful piece of Chinese textile art!
