Unused Antique Chinese Silk Embroidery Butterfly Bat Robe Sleeve Band Cuffs Pair
This pair of antique Chinese silk embroidered butterfly bat robe sleeve band cuffs date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a burnt orange cinnabar color silk fabric background, with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There are a variety of intricately embroidered butterflies, bats and flowers. The butterfly is a symbol of love and affection, the bat is a symbol of happiness and longevity. This uncut unused pretty pair of matching embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu robes sleeve cuffs for added decoration and symbolism. Each band measures 20 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and the uncut fabric is 40 inches by 15 inches. It is in good unused condition, with only some slight fade discoloration. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
