This pair of antique Chinese crane swastika silk embroidered robe sleeve band cuffs date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are hand stitched, made of a pale purple pink lilac color silk fabric, with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and gold thread couching work. There are a variety of intricately embroidered Chinese precious objects of good fortune including the crane and swastika symbol which both represent longevity. This matching pair of exceptional long embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu robes wide sleeve cuff for added decoration and symbolism. Each band measures 34 1/2 inches long and 4 1/4 inches wide. They are in good useable condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art! |
