Victorian Civil War Black Silk Lace Ebony Folding Handle Marquis Mourning Parasol. Tweet
|
This antique Victorian Civil War era black silk lace ebony folding handle marquis mourning parasol dates from the 1860s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with remnants of a black lace ruffle trim edging. There is a black ebony wood carved curled handle and folding shaft. There is a marquis tilt top mechanism inside (see close-up) to keep the sun off your face. The parasol measures 27 inches long extended, 15 inches long when folded and the fabric outside is 56 inches in circumference when opened up. It is in as-is fair, but useable condition, with several frayed holes rips in the lace trim, a few tiny faint stains on the silk and the fabric cover is a bit loose on 2 spokes. This is still a wonderful mourning parasol! |
