This pair of antique Chinese silk embroidered wedding bed bottle vase wall hangings date from the early 20th century during the end of the Qing Dynasty. They are hand stitched, silk covered, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of flowers and birds. There are three dimensional raised rosette peony flowers with leaves in the center and additional wired flowers branching out along the top. The peony is a symbol of love and affection and is representative of good luck. This magnificent pair of traditional Chinese wedding wall hangings would have hung on either side of the wedding bed and would have held a bottle vase. There are long colorful silk tassels hanging down from the bottom which one has become detached (see close-up). The sconce style wall hangings each measure 12 inches long and 7 inches wide. They are in good condition, with only some minor wear, slight soiling dirt from age and peeling water spotting on the paper backing. These are truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
