This pair of antique Chinese birds silk embroidered robe sleeve band cuffs purse bag dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are hand stitched, made of a blue silk fabric, with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and gold metallic thread couching work. There are a variety of intricately embroidered Chinese birds, pheasants, cranes, butterflies, flowers, pomegranates and the endless knot symbol for longevity and eternity. This matching pair of embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu robes wide sleeve cuff for added decoration and symbolism. They have been sewn together along the sides and bottom creating a large purse pouch bag open at the top. The bag measures 21 inches long and 13 inches wide. It is in good useable condition, with only some slight faint fade discoloration. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art!
